Konica Minolta demos UV inkjet capability

Konica Minolta is using Ipex to demonstrate how its KM-1 B2+ UV inkjet colour press can be used to exploit short-run packaging markets and to convince commercial printers to expand their print applications with larger sheet sizes for posters, point-of-purchase graphics, etc.

Following the acquisition of a 10% stake in MGI Digital Graphic Technology (MGI), Konica Minolta is also running on its stand an MGI jet varnishing solution that adds 3D or traditional flat spot UV coating using inkjet heads

At its Ipex press conference, Olaf Lorenz, general manager, international marketing division, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe, said: “The ‘classical’ digital business from commercial and industrial printers is moving from analogue to digital – with numerous opportunities. Digital colour print is set to experience a compound annual growth rate of about 4% until 2017. With this knowledge, Konica Minolta decided to expand its reach into new markets and increase its product portfolio.”
