New SureColor LFPs from Epson

Epson has added four new SureColor SC-P large-format inkjet printers to its range. Available in 24in and 44in widths, and eight- or ten-colours, the SureColor SC-P6000, SC-P7000, SC-P8000 and SC-P9000 incorporate Epson’s PrecisionCore printhead technology and Advanced Black and White (ABW) mode.

The SC-P8000 and SC-P6000 use Epson’s eight-colour UltraChrome HD pigment-based inkset, while the SC-P9000 and SC-P7000 use the company’s ten-colour UltraChrome HDX inkset, incorporating a new violet ink. Both models are said to be able to achieve 99% of the Pantone colour library.

These models are also available with a Light Light Black UltraChrome HDX ink configuration that replaces the violet ink making them suitable to high-end photographic and fine art applications.

All models are available bundled with Epson’s off carriage, inline SpectroProofer incorporating the ILS30 colorimeter, jointly developed with X-Rite and conforming to the new ISO lighting and measurement standards - including M1. The SpectroProofer solution also enables printer calibration with Epson’s new Color Calibration Utility tool that can be used to ensure consistent colour across a fleet of printers. Because the calibration data is stored on the printer, support for multiple users is much simpler and the calibrated data can be used for all media types including third party.

All models come with high-capacity cartridges, and according to Epson prints on Premium Glossy Photo Paper can last up to 60 years.

The ten-colour SC-P7000V with inline Epson ILS30 SpectroProofer will be shown for the first time in Europe at Labelexpo Europe (29 Sept - 2 October in Brussels). The range will be available from 1 November.
