Neenah introduces new line-up for wide-format printing at SGIA
Following its recent acquisition of FiberMark, Neenah Paper will unveil a new line-up for wide-format printing at the 2015 SGIA Expo in Atlanta this week (4 - 6 November).
Roland introduces Soljet EJ-640
New from Roland DG is the four- or seven-colour Soljet EJ-640 wide-format inkjet printer with dual staggered printheads, an integrated tri-heater system, and 1litre ink cartridges. In a mirrored CMYK ink configuration, the EJ-640 can achieve speeds of up to 102m2/h.
Nazdar brings out alternative inks for Arizona and Acuity printers
Nazdar has announced a range of alternative inks for Oce Arizona and Fujifilm Acuity printers. The new 702 and 703 ‘plug and play’ UV inkjet inks are for use in the Oce Arizona printers using IJC256 inks (702 Series), and the Fujifilm Acuity printers running the KI Series inks (703 Series). They will be available from early next month (November).
BPIF Apprentice Council formed
A BPIF Apprentice Council has been formed to ensure apprentices can shape the delivery of their training programmes. It will also provide a platform for council members to express their views on the industry and make clear their needs. This will all feed into the BPIF’s schools programme that aims to attract more school leavers into the printing industry.
Hayden Kelley appointed Drytac CEO
Drytac has appointed a new chief. Hayden Kelley, who currently serves and will retain his role as managing director of Drytac Europe, succeeds his father Richard Kelley, the company’s founding chairman and former CEO. The latter will continue to serve as chairman.
Mutoh to show new ValueJet 1624X at Viscom
Mutoh will use Viscom Germany 2015 in November to show the new 64in-wide ValueJet 1624X. This is the successor to Mutoh’s ValueJet 1624 printer and targeted at long-term outdoor and indoor sign and display applications. The printer can be configured with Mutoh Eco Ultra as well as Universal Mild Solvent (UMS) inks. Sellable production speeds are quoted at being up to 20.5m2/hr. m²/h - and an unprecedented level of ease of use.
PitStop 13 update released
Now on release is PitStop 13 update 1 with new features for the sign and display market among others. These include improved processing speed, support for adding grommets, preflight restrictions within a shape such as a cutter guide, and a new preflight profile for fixing PDFs created from Microsoft Office documents.
Onset X Series announced
Inca Digital has announced the Onset X Series flatbed UV printers based on a new common scalable architecture. The platform features a larger 25 zone vacuum table and UV control system to eliminate masking, and a carriage that can incorporate up to 14 ink channels. The range comprises the Onset X1 (560m2/hr,112 full-bed sheets/hr), Onset X2 (725m2/hr, 145 beds/hr) and Onset X3 (900m2/hr, 180 beds/hr).
Lenstar Lenticular Print Awards open
Entries are open for the third Lenstar Lenticular Print Awards, which will culminate with an exhibition of nominated work at Drupa 2016. Awards organisers DPLenticular and Pacur have teamed up with Messe Dusseldorf to host the awards in the Drupa innovation park (dip), where there will also be a gallery of the entries.

Esko is rolling out an updated version of ArtiosCad that showcases Canvas Design with new features to improve the workflow for those designing/producing multi-component displays and packaging.
Itma sees fruition of Print Your Vision Project
Epson, For.Tex and F.lli Robustelli will present the Print Your Vision project at Itma in Milan, 12 – 19 November. For the project four young designers were asked to reinterpret designs preserved in the Como Antonio Ratti Foundation Textile Museum’s archives. They will reproduce them using the MonnaLisa digital printer and Genesta inks and the results will be shown at Itma on the three participating companies’ stands, decorated with tapestries depicting the four designer’s final creations.

Color-Logic, developer of the Process Metallic Color System, has certified Kernow Gloss Silver 119SGM inkjet media for solvent and latex printers.
