At Fespa 2013, Coloursonic, London, bought a HP Scitex FB500 printer to add white ink capability to its direct-to-rigid substrate printing capacity and accelerate graphics production. HP reseller CWE Solutions installed the printer in first week of July to meet the production requirements of a significant job.

Viscom continues to grow, attracting 13,277 visitors to the recent event in Dusseldorf. That’s a 9.7% increase on the 12,100 attending Viscom Frankfurt last year. With 350 participating companies, this year’s show also set a new exhibitor record, gaining 7% in the comparison with Viscom Frankfurt.

The next Print Networking Club event will take place on Monday 16 December, from 5pm to 7.30pm in the Bar, St Bride Foundation, Fleet Street, London. Dr Kate Stone, the head of Novalia, will present at the event and will talk for a few minutes on the subject of her investigations on the frontier between sound and print and will be available to chat to individually throughout the event.

Quality Print Services (QPS) has been appointed an authorised Roland dealer for its dye-sublimation range of kit. The first machine to be made available via QPS is the Roland VersaArt RE-640.

Contra Vision is one of 100 inventors and innovations represented in a ‘Travelling Museum of British Invention’ which is currently touring the UK to promote the key role played by British inventions in science and engineering. Contra Vision’s see-through technology, one of the British inventions highlighted, was also used to wrap parts of the museum bus.

Cardiff-based Genesis Marketing delivered full event branding for the recent Wales Rally GB Championships, the British leg of the World Rally Championships. The project was delivered on behalf of client International Motor Sports, which was pointed towards Genesis by the Welsh government, an event sponsor and regular client of the company.

Ricoh has confirmed its participation at InPrint next year as a founding and headline sponsor.

Hexacomb is making its Falconboard Print All White display board available in Europe. This white version of the company’s original Falconboard Print has a solid bleached sulphate white core and liner (the original version has a white clay-coated kraft liner and testliner paper core). It is available in 1220 x 2440 mm and 1400 x 3050 mm sizes, and thicknesses of 10 or 16 mm.

Version 8 of the ColorGate Rip software family is now available to all end users.

“All innovations in version 8 have been developed in accordance with our end users. We are closely observing all changes in the markets, which we seek to further shape and flank with our solutions,” said Thomas Kirschner, ColorGate MD.

Fespa is using the findings of a survey conducted by InfoTrends on its behalf this summer to earmark next May’s Fespa Digital 2014 as a tipping point for the wide-format graphics sector.

Canon has scooped the Buyer’s Laboratory (BLI) award for ‘2014 Wide-Format Graphic Arts Printer Line of the Year’ thanks to the overall strength of its imagePrograf series of printers. Also, Canon’s iPF6400S, iPF8400S and iPF765 MFP M40 printers were recognised with three BLI Winter 2014 ‘Pick’ awards in the wide-format category.
