The Printing Charity has relaunched its Yorkshire Committee to renew its links with Yorkshire’s printing, publishing and graphic arts sectors in its drive to help more people in the region and achieve its goal of helping 2,000 people nationally by 2017.

Between now and its 2016 show, Drupa will be carrying out a series of global surveys for the international print industry to research how print may best adapt to the huge and fundamental changes that are taking place in the communications market.

A multi-roll, large-format eprinter designed for copyshops has been unveiled by HP. The Designjet Z5400 is a 44in wide (1.1m) device that uses six HP Photo Inks with three different shades of black to produce images at up to 2400 x 1,200dpi. It has a two-roll media take-up with automatic switching.

Signcraft purchased a new Seiko II ColorPainter W-64S large format mild solvent inkjet printer from Colourgen reseller, City and West End Solutions, in 2012 to meet its requirements for greater speed and quality.

St Ives CEO Patrick Martell has been made president of Ipex 2014. As such he will chair the Ipex 360 Committee, a visitor focused steering group that will discuss and advise on the show, which takes place at London ExCeL 24 - 29 March next year.

Chelmsford-based Signtec was founded in 1999 and is a major supplier of signage and graphics to customers across the East Anglia region.  The company currently occupies a 2200 sq.ft. workshop and produces a wide variety of sign and display solutions.

Company owner, Steve Hems, and his team of seven produce its wide range of applications for a variety of customers including local government, schools and colleges, designers and end-users. In December 2012, Signpost Signs purchased a Roland DG Soljet Pro4 XR-640 printer/cutter through printMax and the new machine has already had a major impact on the company. It has enabled the team to increase its operational efficiency and produce large format prints quicker than ever before, as well as confidently look to a future where they can offer their customers an even wider range of services.
