Going for gold with Olympic site contract

Hollywood Monster is going for gold by producing what it claims to be UK’s "largest ever banner display" at the new Westfield Stratford City urban shopping mall directly opposite the new Olympic stadium. The 350 x 14m banner is just part of the print contract awarded by Westfield for the £1.45bn mall which will be officially launched by Nicole Scherzinger on Tuesday, 13 September. The company is also producing 85 hoardings for the site, 40 vinyl glass wraps and 45 fabric hoardings.

New Fujifilm Acuity LED 1600 shipping to UK by end 2011 

The new Acuity LED 1600 printer, being showcase by Fujifilm at exhibitions in the US and Japan this month, will be shipping to the UK by the end of the year.

Annual Digital Print UK exhibition to be launched in 2012

Faversham House will launch a new national annual digital printing exhibition for the commercial print sector in 2012. The first Digital Print UK will be held 18 - 20 next year at the NEC, Birmingham. 

New sales team to double turnover at Digital Plus

Leeds-based large-format printer Digital Plus plans to double turnover in three years and has bolstered its sales team to help it do just that. Consultant Phil Lee has been appointed sales director, with a remit to lead the new team and spearhead a strategy for growth. Mark Lazenby joins as a new regional sales manager and will work alongside existing regional sales manager Ian Thomas. 

Inca Digital doubles Onset manufacturing volume to meet rise in demand

Inca Digital has doubled its Onset manufacturing volume at its Cambridge facility to meet what is calling “a considerable boost in demand” for this UV flatbed wide-format digital inkjet printer range, and is looking to increase staffing levels by 20 per cent across the board.

Professionals in Print and Media launches with bush-craft event

PPM (Professionals in Print and Media), formerly known as the YMP, has just been rebranded as an all inclusive membership organisation designed to build networking, training and communication skills amongst the younger members of the industry. A national bush-craft training weekend, run by outdoor adventure company Shaggy Sheep Wales, over the weekend of 23 - 25 September, will kick-start the new-look PPM.

Xennia appoints new commercial director

Xennia Technology has appointed Laurie Geldenhuys as commercial director. Managing director Dr Alan Hudd said of the move: "Xennia has many years of knowledge and experience in developing inkjet inks for a variety of important applications. With this senior appointment we are driving the commercialisation of our existing developments, making ink central to our business. Geldenhuys has a broad experience in the ink industry, which is vitally important for our growing ink sales."
