Fespa creates business development role

Vehicle wrapping course dates announced

Vehicle wrapping is the focus of this autumn’s workshop organised by Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Solutions at the European Graphics Centre in Alphen aan de Rijn, The Netherlands. A one-day masterclass on design for vehicle wraps (given in English) is scheduled for 20 October. Three expert two-day courses on advanced vehicle wrapping techniques are scheduled  for 1-2 September, 13-14 October,  and 17-18 November.  For newcomers to the art of vehicle wrapping, a one-day beginners’ course is scheduled for 28 October.

William Smith expands its film portfolio

New from William Smith are the new Arlon 6000RP and 6000XRP graphic films for complex curves while, for displays, the company has introduced Arlon DPF 208 Series (a 200gm roll-up with block-out) and DPF 210 Series (a 250gm roll-up with a grey block-out liner). William Smith has also launched its own range of cast and calendered carbon fibre films.

Signmaster to host Sign and Print Exhibition

Signmaster Systems will host a free exhibition at its new premises on the outskirts of Whitchurch on 4 - 5 October 2011. Suppliers such as Mimaki, CadLink, Roland, Intercoat, Neolt, X-Rite, Epson, Keencut and CorelDraw will be showing a range of printing, cutting, software and finishing solutions.

Spandex buyout from Gerber Scientific

Gilde Buy Out Partners has bought out Spandex Group from Gerber Scientific with funds managed by Gilde as well as Spandex management. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. With the acquisition, Spandex becomes an independent company and management, with the support of Gilde, will continue to execute its growth strategy. 

Revolution Transfers launches digital production solution at LabelExpo

This year’s LabelExpo will see UK supplier Revolution Transfers offering a label production solution that includes a choice of Roland DG large-format UV-curable or eco-solvent based print-and-cut inkjet devices in conjunction with 3M matched media and ColorGate’s Production server 6 Rip.

Drupa has a new president

Heidelberg chairman Bernhard Schreier has taken over from Martin Weickenmeier as president and chairman of the exhibitors’ advisory board of Drupa. The change comes because Weickenmeier, managing director of Körber PaperLink, is no longer available for the tasks required of the Drupa president due to the strategic reorientation of the paper segment of Koerber. Weickenmeier had been the head of the executive committee of Drupa since the last trade fair in 2008.

Appointment at Avery Dennison

Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Solutions Europe has appointed Jimmy Nicholls as new direct sales manager for its Avery Graphics-brand product range in the UK and Ireland. Based in the UK, he reports directly to Peter Koomen, general sales manager Europe, direct channel, at divisional headquarters in Hazerswoude, The Netherlands.

Print Designs invests to eliminate bottleneck

Print Designs in Stafford has bought a Zund G3XL3200CVE cutter from Robert Horne to ease a converting bottleneck created by increased production speeds since upgrading to an EFI Vutek QS2000 UV flatbed printer in February 2010.
