BPIF launches training academy to grow sales expertise

The BPIF has launched a virtual Sales Academy in partnership with sales training company Advance. The new academy provides BPIF members with access to sales training via an online virtual classroom.

Fujifilm invites printers to take the Onset Challenge

Fujifilm believes it can prove that buying an Onset printer can pay for itself in six months and has set a challenge to printers to test it for themselves. The company is inviting printers to explore Onset ROI via a new online portal (www.onsetchallenge.com) where a five-step process is aimed at proving how the range can increase profitability. 

2011 European Digital Press Association Awards Announced

The EDP (European Digital Press Association) annual awards for technology innovation have been announced. In this fifth year for the awards, the EDP (of which Image Reports is the UK member) has presented 20 prizes across four categories: print engines, finishing kit, consumables and software.

Roland’s VersaUV technology used in hybrid UV-curable printer 

Following the introduction of the VersaUV LEC-330 and LEC-540 UV-curable machines, Roland DG has incorporated the same technology into its first wide-format hybrid printer, the VersaUV LEJ-640. This roll-fed/flatbed machine has a maximum printing width of 1.625m, a maximum resolution of 1400 x 1400dpi, can print white and clear varnish as well as CMYK, and can work with coated and uncoated rigid substrates up to 13mm in thickness. 

GMG increases sales in 2010 

Colour management software specialist GMG saw sales climb 30% in 2010, compared to the previous year.

Tetenal becomes Omnijet distributor

Tetenal has become the exclusive distributor of the Ilford Omnijet range of large-format media for the UK. It will stock the complete range, which includes RC paper and film media for pop-up and roll-up displays, illuminated displays and posters.  

Bakery takes large-format POS in-house

Cornwall-based Warrens Bakery has installed an Epson Stylus Pro 7700 inkjet printer to save costs, improve both quality and impact and to increase speed to market by producing A1 and A2 promotional posters in-house.

FotoInsight offers gallery prints mounted on Alu-Dibond

Online photo service FotoInsight is now offering to print customer photos as posters in gallery quality, mounted onto a light and strong aluminium composite panel from £34.99. The poster will be exposed on real photographic paper and then mounted on Alu-Dibond.

Durst appoints Spandex as sole UK distributor of its new Omega 1 printer

Durst has appointed Spandex as sole UK distributor of its new Omega 1 printer. Hans Klarenbeek, European sales manager of Durst, said: “The appointment will greatly enhance our presence in the UK screen and digital printing market. The company has a unique knowledge and experience of this market sector and will help to present the Omega 1 to a large target audience.” 

Agfa Graphics increases its inkjet portfolio increase at Fespa Digital

Agfa Graphics has said “a significant range of new inkjet printers will be launched at Fespa Digital” where its will introduce a new model of the M-Press family for industrial high-end digital printing solutions as well a new high productivity Jeti 5m UV roll-to-roll printer. These will be shown beside the recently revealed Anapurna M1600 and the new roll-to-roll options for the Jeti Titan flatbed machine.

Fujifilm expands Acuity printer offering

Fujifilm Europe has introduced new Acuity wide-format UV inkjet printers with what it has called “significant functional improvements and enhanced value for the end-user”.  The new editions of the Acuity Advance and Acuity Advance X2 will sit alongside the Acuity Advance HS HD 3545 and Advance HS HD3545 X2 flatbed devices.

Expect to see latex additions at Fespa Digital

HP has unveiled additions to its latex printer line-up will be showcased at Fespa Digital. New to the portfolio is: the HP Scitex LX850, a 3.2m machine with multiple workflow features, including dual-roll, roll-to-free fall and roll-to-collector handling and an ink collector; and the cheaper priced LX820 3.2m printer in a roll-to-roll configuration. 

Frazer Chesterman and Marcus Timson leave Fespa

It has been confirmed that Frazer Chesterman and Marcus Timpson are leaving Fespa to join the management team of UK-based event organising company Mack Brooks Exhibitions. Chesterman, managing director, exhibitions and events, will be replaced as MD by print industry newcomer Neil Felton on 11 May. It is being left to him to recruit Timson’s replacement as sales and marketing director.
