Epson adds UFabrik media to swatch book

Epson Europe has added UFabrik Wallcover Canvas ECO Greyback to its swatch book of media suitable for use with its SureColor R5000 resin printers.

“We wanted to include UFabrik Wallcover Canvas ECO Greyback because not only is it made of 80% PET bottle waste but it’s 100% recyclable and extended the range of media in the book,” said Yvonne Roach, product manager for commercial and industrial print, Epson Europe.

The swatch book was printed inhouse on an Epson SureColor R5000L water-based resin ink printer and finished externally. In addition to its environmental credentials, the print team at Epson gave the textile medium a five-star rating for its quality and colour reproduction, matched by its ease of use, handling, finishing, and profiling.

Paul Restarick, pre-sales technical specialist at Epson said: “With its easy handling and its good ink receptive properties, UFabrik Eco Greyback has proven to be a good performer on the SureColor R5000 Series range of printers.

UFabrik Wallcover Canvas ECO Greyback is compatible with resin, UV, latex and UVgel inks, is PVC-free, REACH complaint and fire rated. The opaque, woven, cold cut material has a matt surface and is available in 1550mm and 3100mm widths.

Epson is now frequently using UFabrik Wallcover Canvas ECO Greyback for display systems at smaller events and exhibitions. Graphics using the textile are output on-site using the SureColor R5000 printer with water-based inks. The prints are then installed in 6 x 2250mm x 1000mm lightboxes that slot together for flexibility.

Restarick concluded: “By utilising Epson Precision Dot Technology found in our SureColor range of devices, we are able to achieve a depth of colour and density normally only achievable by double or triple striking the prints. Using the UFabrik backlit textile range in conjunction with our SureColor R5000 series has helped us produce stunningly vibrant, environmentally friendly backlit displays for our showroom and external events.”
