Durst is using Itma 2015, which opened its doors in Milan today, to launch the Alpha series of “super multi-pass inkjet printers for the digital production of home textiles and fashion”. The series offers print widths of 190-330cm and can be configured with up to eight colors and 64 Alpha-S printheads that achieve a native resolution of 600dpi and a print speed of 460lm/hr.

BPIF Training has launched Professional Development Awards to focus on skills requirements identified across the print industry, including the large-format digital inkjet sector.

At Itma, Mutoh is showing the new ValueJet 1938TX - a 1910mm (75in) wide, dual staggered head, direct-to-textile printer. It is also introducing ValueJet 404GT CMYK and ValueJet 405GT CMYK + White desktop direct-to-garment printers, as well as the recently announced ValueJet 1624X eco/mild-solvent printer.

At Itma, the first dedicated textile exhibition since EFI’s acquisition of Reggiani, the company is showcasing the new ReNoir Next 1.8m beltless digital system that prints onto fabrics and paper using the same inkset.

ColorGate has brought out a new process-optimised coloration software program called Colorrizer for industrial digital printing. With Colorrizer, the design and collection development is already done in the working colour space of the digital production system so that the process-dependent printer gamuts are taken into account and fully exploited directly in the design process.

Agfa Graphics won three Product of the Year awards at SGIA Expo. The new Anapurna M2540i won in the UV Flatbed ($100-200k) category, the Jeti Mira took the UV Flatbed ($200-500k) title and the Jeti Tauro won top honors in the UV Hybrid/Flatbed High Volume Production Class category.

Fespa is calling for entries to its 2016 Awards. This time around the global competition comprises 15 categories covering a variety of application themes, including: in-store; fine art print; decals, outdoor and vehicle decoration; special effect print; garment and wearables; interior decoration; and industrial and functional printing. There's also a new category for non-printed signage. Each category can be entered using either a digital print process, screen print process or a combination of any print processes.

Mimaki’s TS300P-1800 inkjet printer is this year’s winner of the Viscom Best of Award for Textile Refinement. Designed for low-cost production of high-value digital textile applications, the TS300P-1800 1.8m wide roll-to-roll dedicated transfer paper printer that can use fluorescent yellow and pink inks.

Gandy Digital has moved its European headquarters from Antwerp to a larger, more central facility in Zaventem, Belgium. The new 2000m2 facility houses offices, a demonstration room, assembly line and storage space. It also allows Gandy to boost its EMEA based R&D and production capabilities.

EFI has bought MIS developer Shuttleworth Business Systems, based in Kettering, UK. "We are very excited to join the EFI family and are confident in the additional value they can bring to our customers," said Andy King, joint managing director, Shuttleworth. "EFI has the technology, skill and reach that will enable Shuttleworth customers continued growth and success for years to come."

DITF (the German Institute for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf) will use Itma 2015 (12 -19 November) to demonstrate how textile and garment manufacturers can make their production processes more efficient, profitable, and transparent with a ‘Simulate, Print and Cut’ integrated and adaptable workflow that supports the production of ‘micro runs’ down to the production of one-off pieces and samples.

Roland Academy has seen two new training courses and two of the Better Business Boot Camps introduced to its programme, largely to meet what the company sees as a growing demand for small-format flatbed UV technology and design software knowledge following the introduction of its VersaUV LEF range of printers. A new Lightbar Better Business Boot Camp is also part of the programme’s expansion.

Fujifilm is to run a series of one-day regional Corrugated Summits throughout this month and December at its UK production facility in Broadstairs, Kent. The intention is to demonstrate how investing in UV inkjet technology - the Onset X Series specifically - can open up new opportunities in the packaging and corrugated sectors.
