Novograf takes Kongsberg XP44

Novograf expects a new Kongsberg XP44 digital cutting table from Esko to help it improve production speeds, flexibility and costs.

Founded in 1989, the East Kilbride brand presentation solutions provider’s portfolio includes customised in-store graphics. Operations manager Alan Marshall said of the new purchase:  “One of the main considerations was to be able to work with coarser and thicker materials. We currently handle a lot of film but nothing above 5mm. This will give us greater flexibility which is critical at a time when you are often being asked to solve problems. We are very good at that but the table will help make us better.

He continued: “It is easy to use and that helps us be more creative, productive and turnaround work faster. We also liked the size of platform it offers. There are no longer lots of 500 to 600 sheet jobs. Plenty are only three or four sheets and we need to handle them cost effectively.

“We work in a lot of niche markets and design and develop every project to fit the customer’s requirements. That means we need to innovate continuously to help them achieve market differentiation. The table will help that and us become slicker with our production.”

The Kongsberg XP44 is a fully automated dieless finishing machine. It can handle a wide range of materials and when equipped with a milling tool it can also handle rigid materials such as MDF, Forex, Dibond, acrylic panels and foamed PVC.
